Novel potent, selective, orally available inhibitor of Delta-5 desaturase (D5D), significantly inhibiting the progression of atherosclerotic lesions in the aorta, significantly decreasing AA levels while increasing DGLA levels in the liver and blood accompanied with decreasing in AA-derived eicosanoid production and increasing in DGLA-derived eicosanoid production from the blood cells, and decreasing inflammatory marker soluble ICAM-1 levels in plasma
